Samantha Wellman
About Samantha:
Samantha was first diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 1989. With significant disease throughout her digestive system, Samantha suffered acute disease for over 20 years, choosing not to have the diseased colon removed, but instead, to apply every thing she could learn about nutrition to her condition. She lived as well as could be expected, managing the disease with grace and knowledge and the help of a lot of great doctors.
In 2008, after complications with treatment, Samantha chose to have surgery, becoming a permanent ostomate. Unfortunately, the drugs that were taken for the Crohn’s had masked arthritis. The recommendation to apply these drugs again with the newly discovered condition was made.
Samantha chose to take on her health issues; empowered by what she had learned over 20 years of nutritional study, and her love of Pilates, she went into training. A year and a half later, she shows no sign of disease or inflammation, and has even reversed drug-induced osteoporosis. Now Samantha strives to help others take control of their health through food and movement.
